IRCC holds a sponsorship lottery for the Parents and Grandparents Program 2021

Invites to the Parents and Grandparents Program 2021 have recently begun to be sent out by the IRCC.

Approximately 30,000 Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be able to sponsor their parents and grandparents.Between today and October 7, the invites will be sent out by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). IRCC has 60 days to receive completed sponsorship applications from invited sponsors.

Sponsored grandparents and parents will become permanent residents of Canada, with all the benefits it entails, such as free health care. Given the high demand among Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their loved ones, receiving a PGP invitation is challenging. Over 100,000 sponsors have visited IRCC’s website in the past few minutes of its opening to fill out interest to sponsor forms.

IRCC allowed sponsors to submit interest in sponsoring applications on its website between October and November 2020. It announced a lottery in January 2021 to invite 10,000 sponsors. This round’s 30,000 invites are selected from the same group of 2020 candidates. The IRCC has not yet said how it plans to manage the PGP in 2022.

What should I do if I’m invited to PGP 2021?

For the PGP 2021, you must meet the eligibility requirements. You must be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a member of a federally recognized First Nations organization.

You must also verify to IRCC that you have the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI). The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) must receive your notices of assessment for the tax years 2020, 2019, and 2018.If you satisfy the requirements and choose to proceed, you will have 60 days to submit your complete sponsorship application to IRCC, including fees.

Residents of Quebec must show that they have met the province’s sponsorship income criteria in the previous year.

Sponsors must sign an undertaking agreement with both IRCC and Quebec. During the undertaking time, sponsors are legally obligated to reimburse any social assistance their parents or grandparents obtain.Non-Quebec residents are given a 20-year tenure, whereas Quebec citizens are given a ten-year term.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] will hold the Parents and Grandparents Program [PGP] 2020 immigration lottery in early 2021.The PGP, a Canadian immigration program, is designed mainly for parents and grandparents.

What is the aim of Canada’s Parents and Grandparents Program?

The PGP only takes place once a year.As part of the 2020 PGP intake, 10,000 applications will be processed.A total of 30,000 additional applications will be accepted as part of the PGP intake in 2021.

Step-by-step procedure

STEP 1: If you are eligible to become a sponsor, fill out the “interest to sponsor” form. The form will be made available by IRCC during the intake application session.

STEP 2: Following the completion of the online form, the submissions are reviewed. Any duplicate contributions are deleted.Invitations to sponsor their parents and grandparents were sent out after a random selection of possible sponsors.

Invitations are sent through email. The IRCC website will announce the invitation status. As of yet, the IRCC has not “invited anyone in 2020.”

STEP 3: If you are invited to apply, you must submit your application package before the deadline.Within 60 days, the completed sponsorship application must be submitted to IRCC. The precise deadline will be included in the invitation to apply that is sent out.

IRCC had previously intended to invite sponsors to “apply around the end of the year” so that it could “expect to receive applications in early 2021 [likely January and February]”.The lottery, according to reports, has been rescheduled till early 2021. To reflect the change, the IRCC website is being modified.

The randomized lottery, which was supposed to take place later this year and invite up to 10,000 sponsors, has been postponed until early next year.

Another way to immigrate to Canada is through the SUPER VISA program, which allows you to bring your parents and grandparents. The Super Visa of Canada is a renewable visa that is good for ten years.
