The US Immigrant Investment Program (EB-5)
The EB-5 visa is a way of getting your U.S. green card and permanent residency by investing in a qualifying business. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) authorizes the EB-5 visa program. Foreign investors must meet specific regulatory and United States Citizenship and Immigration (USCIS) requirements to obtain their permanent residency through the EB-5 visa program.
Minimum Capital Investment Requirement
- High Unemployment Areas: $900,000
- Outside a high Unemployment Area: $1,800,000
Job Creation Requirement
The minimum requirement is to create or preserve 10 full-time jobs in the United States.

EB-5 Application Process
For EB-5 visa Investor can apply in Two ways
1. Investing in a direct EB-5 project :
By investing in a direct EB-5 project, the investor has to start their own business and hiring at least 10 full-time in the US, work-authorized employees.
2. Investing in a Regional Center-sponsored EB-5 project :
Regional centres may give investors already identified investment opportunities, thus reducing the obligation of the investors to identify appropriate investment options. For both investment options, the minimum investment and job creation conditions are the same.
Steps to be followed while Applying
- Review the investor eligibility
- Select an EB-5 Regional centre sponsored project, and appoint an experienced EB-5 Attorney.
- Remit applicable funds, either $900,000 or $1,800,000 depending on the location of the project.
- Submit Form I-526 petition.
- Consular interview and Conditional Green Card.
- Removal of Conditions and Permanent Green Card.
Immigration services
- Upon investing and Filing an application for conditional Permanent Residency it takes 24-50 months
- Upon approval of I-526 and to start the process for a consulate interview or adjustment of status it takes 6-8 months
- For Receipt of Conditional Green Card, it takes 24 months.
- For Filing application for removal of conditions (Form I-829) it takes 28-36 months.
- You will get Unconditional Green Card soon after.
